Best Day in Months

I honestly can say this is one of the best days I have had in months. Life is crazy how everything seems to fall apart, and right when you are ready to give up there are glimmers of life that make it all good again.

I had my first event tonight with the chapter of the charity I have been help build here in Chicago. Over 50 people came to the event, which is great. But more than anything, I have never felt such warmth from a group of people since I have been back home in Kansas City.

There have been several people which have ridden me so hard, claiming that my involvement is futile and how I "really haven't done anything to show for my life". It is so nice to contradict that negative self-thinking and show them a thing or two about what my life is about. Two of my best friends came just to stop by and say hi, it was so encouraging to have someone come out and make mention of my life is progressing, for lack of a better word.

PS. I have a new crush!

Everything Will Conspire Against You

Everything Will Conspire
To Stop You

by Robert Bruce

There are
endless reasons
and ways

You’ve got three kids

You’ve got three teeth

The rent is four months past due

You’re a big hit at the office

She left last week

The engine won’t turn over

You just aren’t feeling it

The terrorist pulls the blade

The wine went bad

Fame arrived too fast

You’ll lose their respect

You’re in the cancer game

The bus turning left, one block north

You’ll do it tomorrow

The doubt, just behind your left ear

Thirty three parking tickets

Out of milk

Never went to college

Went to too much college

The step onto a rotting board

Oversexed

Undersexed

Et Cetera

Et Cetera

Et Cetera

Everything will
conspire to stop you

There are
endless reasons
and ways

They are all common
to every man

In the end
you’ve got to
sharpen the steel
and do the thing

Then do it again

No matter the payoff

No matter the beating

You are no different
than any before you

Their blood ran
in the gutter

So will yours

If you want
to finish this race

I am so Claire Danes in Romeo and Juliet

This was an interesting week for no interesting reason.

I made a Twitter (ugh, I know); wrote a letter to Robert Bruce, and made a fool out of myself.

I saw some movies, cried to my friend, and took care of a friend that needed me.

I made a PowerPoint, talked to my parents, climbed up a StairMaster, and puked at a gay club.

All of these collections of things have no real importance, but at the end of the week they seem like something pretty important. Some of it was very important, at least to someone else.

PS. I love these from Sprout Home. So cute!

The Things You Learn About Yourself Thru Google

I thought I would see what my trends are for my searching....it is very sad, but hardly surprising. Key: IDES= unemployment benefits,Mandeep= someone I'm stalking, WSCA= press release for former employer.

I seem so boring.

I feel like I am wearing Beth Ditto's cross, and yes, it is heavy

One of my best friends Jonathan was in town from SF last week. It is hard to say goodbye to people that calm you down when you want nothing else but to start screaming at everyone for your life being a mess and you feel like you should be a millionaire (RIGHT?), and should be dating this amazing person and everyone should be jealous (if they aren't already RIGHT?).

But then someone like Jonathan just waltzes up, "No one's perfect. Let's just have a good time and remember that it'll be okay".

On a positive note, I had dinner at Turquoise Cafe last night. Salmon ala Pomodoro Romano. Panna cotta dessert with fresh berries. Crab dip with fresh Mediterranean loaf. Perhaps one of the few things this week that hasn't made me start crying, or dying to steal some Xanax from my broken wrist roommate's stash.
